Textbook Information

Dressler & Garvey, Criminal Law: Cases and Materials (9th ed. 2022).  You are also welcome to use the 8th edition if you can find a copy that is usable, but you will need to figure out the pagination.  There are a few new cases in the 9th edition, but not so many as to make using the older edition too inconvenient.

General Assignment Information

For our first week/class, please read the following introductory materials in the Dressler & Garvey book:

Nature of Criminal Law, pp. 1-14

Punishment, pp.  31-53

Principle of Legality, pp. 95-98

I don’t know if we will get far in the legality materials.  Regardless of where we land, we will have fun getting there.
